Children hear plenty about what comes next. They are asked what they want to be, encouraged to improve, and praised for reaching the latest milestone. On “Mama Loves You,” music therapist and parenting expert Vered Benhorin steps away from that language of progress and offers a quieter message: love does not depend on performance.
The new single comes from Benhorin’s upcoming album, Adorable You, arriving August 7. Written from the perspective of a parent speaking directly to a child, “Mama Loves You” centers on the reassurance that children are worthy of care before they accomplish anything. It is a simple premise, but one that can easily become obscured amid the expectations surrounding childhood.
Benhorin delivers the song with the warmth associated with her previous family recordings, avoiding the theatrical sweetness that can make children’s music feel distant from actual family life. The arrangement is gentle and direct, giving the words room to register. Its purpose is clear without turning the track into a lesson.
That balance reflects Benhorin’s background as a music therapist, psychotherapist, author, and founder of Baby in Tune. For nearly two decades, her work has explored how parents can connect with babies and young children through music, mindfulness, and play. Rather than adding another complicated task to a parent’s day, her approach looks for opportunities inside routines that are already happening.
A feeding, diaper change, morning greeting, or familiar song can become a point of connection when a parent and child are genuinely engaged with each other. Benhorin has described these interactions as small moments that build trust over time. “Mama Loves You” extends that idea by emphasizing that connection begins with accepting a child as they are.
The single also introduces an album shaped by Benhorin’s experience of parenting as emotionally mixed and frequently unpredictable. Adorable You moves between playful songs, gentle reassurance, humor, developmental activities, and reflections on how quickly children grow. Its track list includes songs about mornings, buttons, tummy time, soothing, frogs, diapers, and the day a child first came home.
Benhorin developed the album with her oldest son, Peleg, who is now 17 and preparing to leave for college. As a baby, Peleg inspired his mother’s first album and helped her recognize the potential of singing as a tool for connection. On Adorable You, he contributes as a songwriter and producer, bringing his interest in pop melody and layered vocal harmony into the music.
That collaboration gives the record a personal arc extending well beyond its practical use for families. The infant who once responded to his mother’s singing with coos and movement is now helping her make songs for another generation of parents and children. Their relationship has changed, while music has remained a shared language.
“Mama Loves You” does not attempt to capture that entire history in one song. Its focus remains firmly on a child hearing that they are seen and valued. The restraint is part of what makes the single effective. There is no dramatic twist or elaborate argument, only a message worth repeating.
