Californian hard rockers 6 Speed Supernova have announced the release of their cosmos-inspired new single “Starfire”, due March 16 via 6SS Productions.
Through frenetic, electrified riffage, a commanding vocal performance and tight rhythms drenched in pure groove, “Starfire” conjures a magic greater than the sum of its parts. 6 Speed Supernova masterfully fuse modern hard rock, alternative, jazz and progressive rock with elements of 60’s and 70’s classic rock influences, creating a singular sound all their own. The sonic imprint created on “Starfire” allows the mind’s eye to travel to space towards the furthest outer reaches of the Universal mind.

6 Speed Supernova faced a turning point that affected their musical path when the pandemic hit in 2020. Thankfully, this deeply interconnected quartet rallied to spark a creative surge, leading to a critically acclaimed album, a ‘Best of the Year’ nod from Classic Rock Magazine, an opening spot for Steve Adler of Guns n’ Roses, and now, more visceral and exciting new material. Primarily, it is the band’s passionate ethos of their role and responsibility to their fans which compels them onward.
“The band was on a huge upswing in 2019 and then, in 2020, the world came to a screeching halt. We leaned into the silence and spent time reflecting, marinating in what was happening around us, all the while holding on tight to our bond as a band. When the machine of life slowly started spinning its wheels again, we attempted to adjust to the new norm with a number of our beloved venues now closed, never to reopen. We pushed through to complete our full length studio album, Galactic Boogaloo. Music , like many other things in life is reflective of a moment in time, of the artists’ feelings at the time of creation. We poured our blood, sweat and tears into that album and are proud of every single note. But in the wake of a global pandemic, heightened political and socioeconomic turmoil and abundant wars and violations against humanity happening across the globe, our perspectives skewed. We wondered if the heaviness of the times were too great for 6SS to endure. Fortunately, Spider-Man wisdom prevailed; with great inspiration comes great responsibility.
Our insatiable need to be a voice in the silence, a light in the darkness and an inspiration in a time of apathy brought us back to what we love most, chasing that next gorgeous groove. We got back to work writing, creating and these new tracks and the full album to come are the products of that renewed vigor. These songs are our Renaissance and we hope that all who hear them are empowered to endeavor their own second act.”

Artist Biography:
6 Speed Supernova (6SS) is a California band whose sound origins stem from rock, funk, jazz and alternative influences. The band’s single ‘BOOM’ was chosen by Classic Rock Magazine for their BEST OF THE YEAR compilation. 6SS opened up for Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses. Their EP, ALL ABOARD THE LIGHT RAIL was well received by fans and critics alike. The band released their first full length album, GALACTIC BOOGALOO in the fall of 2022.
Guitarist David Ballon hails from a profound career in the music scene playing with numerous acts.
David’s sister Marie Gutierrez, who has fronted both cover and original bands sings lead for 6SS. Joan Torres, a native of Puerto Rico is a bassist/composer on the forefront of progressive jazz who has also toured the world with various progressive metal acts.
