The Los Angeles chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP LA) invites industry professionals and creators to an illuminating webinar that will explore the dynamic intersection of music publishing and the sports world. Slated for Thursday August 21st at 1:30pm PT, this free event will delve into TV licensing, in-stadium music usage, and the types of songs that best fit such placements.

Moderated by AIMP LA Board Member Andrew Wixen (Simplify Music), the panel features John Adams from The Score, Meredith Fox of Meredith Fox, LLC, and Geena Martorana from MLB Network.

Music plays an undeniable role in sports–from TV game broadcasts to stadium soundtracks and event promos. Yet, licensing for these environments is often overlooked or misunderstood. AIMP LA’s webinar will clarify the complex web of synchronization agreements, public performance licenses, and PRO considerations–equipping creators, publishers, and managers to maximize opportunities in the sports arena.

Highlighted Topics:

TV Licensing in Sports Media: How synchronization licenses are negotiated forbroadcast and streaming content, including trailers, highlight reels, and theme music.

In-Stadium Licensing Logistics: Understanding performance licenses required forpublic use of recordings during live events—playoffs, pre-game playlists, and in-cruise atmosphere—especially amid evolving digital and broadcast rights.

Song Strategies for Placement: What characteristics make a track ideal for use in sports contexts—from tempo and tone to emotional resonance and audience alignment.

In the heart of the entertainment capital of the world, AIMP’s Los Angeles Chapter sits at the intersection of music and media. Its members include television and film composers, contemporary songwriters and producers, as well as leading music companies and film studios. Through innovative and inspiring programming, advocacy, workshops, and networking events, AIMP LA serves this wide-reaching music community that calls Southern California home. This webinar continues that mission by spotlighting a specialized and growing area: how music rights converge with sports broadcasting and live performance. Attendees will leave with practical tools and insights that can be applied to their own licensing strategies—whether they are publishers, songwriters, sync agents, sports marketers, or rights managers. This event is ideal for music publishers, songwriters, sync agents, sports marketers, licensing professionals, and anyone curious about how sports creates new licensing pipelines.
