The story of Fang is pretty tragic. But if there’s no rehabilitation, then prison might as well be a revolving door for criminals. Sam did his time and turned his life around; I can still listen to Fang and not be glorifying his crimes
Staying objective is what’s going to prevent it from turning into a shitshow like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Besides, I got into rock music because of “controversial” pop punk bands, and wouldn’t have stumbled onto the greats without them
Used to be a big punk/NOFX fan, still am to a degree but Mike is such a hypocrite….i remember buying heavy petting Zoo and in the notes he banged on about mtv etc to quit bugging them and that they dont do mainstream yet years later they had their own TV show, music videos on MTV and a book….not to mention that in that book he says how he was a poser and would wear punk band t shirts despite never hearing the bands….he also said in the book after hearing suffer by bad religion he wanted NOFX to imitate their sound….how punk….
Liberal animation is a good punk album but most that follwed wasn't….they certainly changed their sound to be radio friendly after Ribbed…
"anyway…lets move on…" Fat mike. The only intelligent thing said in this whole video
Jesus Christ this lunatic is worried about MuH rAcIsM and in the same breath literally says give the guy WHO MURDERED HIS GIRLFRIEND a break. "Where do you draw the line?" You draw the line at MUDERING PEOPLE. You absolute douchebags. Jesus Christ.
Sorry, it's preposterous to call Good Charlotte a punk band. The MTV "punk bands" from that era–Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Sum 41, etc., were not much more than safe corporate products, Backstreet boys who played down strokes and power chords. Having any standard at all does not make you exclusive. If these guys are punk than there's no meaning to what punk is at all.
I completely disagree, Fear and Screwdriver need to be in. You are conserving history, you can’t just erase history because of hurt feelings. Of course, bring up the vile offensive things and even state your opinion in the museum about why it’s wrong, but to erase it? Should we not learn about the Civil War because the South were fighting for slavery? He’s just flat-out wrong on this.
MCR and Thursday should be in the museum tbh
If it hadn't been for a picture of Benji and the stickers on his bass in a Revolver magazine I wouldn't have known about a lot of my favorite punk bands
Lol “and not be a total dick.” This coming from the dude who purposely went into the Christian band’s buses on Warped Tour to mock them. Fat Mike is such a sorry fucking hypocrite. He should have stuck to writing songs about lesbians and drinking.
What I find absolutely hilarious is how he looks like someone’s old lesbo aunt
Fat Mike is the worst
There's something about Good Charlotte, Green Day, Sum 41, the great bands that are outcast from the scene.
Not being accepted by punks is punk rock in my book.
Green day calls themselves punk rock and just rock n roll. I'd argue theyre biggest punk/rock band of all time
They were fellow tribesmen, short and long answer. 🔯 always carry their own kind. What's not to understand?
You can't call yourself a historian without including the unsavory parts. That is a total contortion on his part. A complete contradiction. Screwdriver and the skinhead movement were seminal to the development of punk as a whole. This is why I completely disagree with the meme that punks are anti-normative rebels with a heart of gold, bullshit. They weren't, they were complete degenerates that rejected society at its core. Which often came with extreme shades from left and right. It was counter culture in its purest form. By eliminating the hateful and bigoted corners. You're misrepresenting the movement entirely.
Good Charlotte? Landfill punk from the early 2000s. If they've made it into a museum it shows just how dead punk rock is.
Never listened to Fang or Screwdriver in my life but a literal murderer is better than racists?
I blew my fucking knee out in San Diego during the codefendants! Thanks fast Mike. I'm out 9 months now!
Man I found about so many good bands from Good Charlotte lyrics or the stickers they had on their guitars.
Those first 2 albums are timeless
Fat Mike keeps punk rock elite. I am glad he is saying shit like this.
"Young and the hopeless" still one of my favorite albums brings back so many good memories and just solid songs
blag wrote songs for them. that alone should get good charlotte in
"The Money Will Roll Right In" has to be one of the most recognizable songs in punk history for me personally. And it is a testament that Brooke Shields is still a recognizable pop reference.
Defend punk❤
Good Charlotte is poser, but in early 90's Greenday is punk back then, they started their debut from indies & underground punk gigs scene, it different now, both band even NOFX no longer punk anymore, since they sold their "ideologi" for major label, mainstream and democrat party, they just spreading democrat campaign under the guise of punk band. punk museum is bullshit with bunch of politics agenda on it.
Good Charlotte, bad band
I love Good Charlotte ❤
Punk is punk, who cares what the Karen's say
What about the Beastie Boys?
I have to say that that was a load of sh!t Green day is not punk rock they just have punk-rock inspirations like a few other groups.
Fat Mike obviously doesn't know what he's talking about,
Calling Good Charlotte and Green Day punk rock but the Ramones in the sex pistols, who are they, they wore controversial stuff back in the day to grab people's attention because they were trying to make a statement.
I understand how a swastika is not acceptable, especially these days I wouldn't wear one myself, but they did what they did as an uprising.
It didn't have anything to do
With race.
I think there should be a wall of shame at the museum that are in the bathrooms. Piss and shit tributes to all the awful racist and homophobic punk acts that were around in the 70’s and 80’s. Toilets dedicated to all the bigots. Lol
Good Charlotte technically came out of the same scene as bands like Pg.99, Strike Anywhere, etc… Northern, VA. They were dudes who came from punk rock and hardcore backrounds. They just fancied some rock startdom along the way.
It’s hard to imagine anything less punk rock than a punk rock museum.
does the museum have grindcore though?
Americans talking about punk it's funny.
Lol at punk being inclusive…
Idk man… I think I like punk…
Pretty cool when you played the Murat in Indianapolis and said we sucked and quit after 30 minutes
Are Atari Teenage Riot in there? They probably won't be very receptive to the invitation, but you should consider them Fat Mike.
Refused!!! Great punk band!! Put them in!
Good Charlotte was my true introduction to forming my own tastes of music. Before that it was whatever pop was drilled into me by the radio. Then one fateful day the music vid for Lifestyles of the rich and the famous came on and I was in awe. Mainly it was Benjis hair that got me 😂 but from then on I would start to find my own tastes and influences in music
I just wish Finn gave the same respect for ska as he does punk. L
Ian Stuart from SKREWDRIVER was WAY, WAY, WAY more PUNK than fat Mike, and any of the commercial bands Fat Mike just talked about! What a moron! Fat Mike is a business man, not a punk.
