  • TLDR: Really good video as someone who hasn't watched any of these all the way through yet (never have enough time lol).
All were very interesting. In terms of what I'd actually buy if I wasn't a broke college student, it's:
    1) Turbid North (easily my favourite in this video)
    2) Karma Rassa (the runner up)
    3) Kollaps/e
    4) Pyramid Mass
    5) A Vintage Death
    6) Act of Eternity
    7) Glyph

Really cool stuff. Gonna watch more of these.

Now, if you want to read the rest of my comment (which, you're insane if you do), there you go.

Right out of the gate, I'm very surprised how good the Karma Rassa sample sounds. I'm definitely checking that one out. Especially when that background scream hits with the heavier instrumentation, and then those higher notes come in. The guitars are like folky melodeath and the vocals feel like folky prog. Love the combination.

The Abyssal Worm sample made me lol because I couldn't even hear the vocals until you pointed out that there are vocals. They're almost like low, distorted noise that my brain more or less filtered out before you mentioning it.

Aaaand lol'd again at the Ouija album art, even if the music was really solid. Hopefully the themes around femininity are more like conceptual and lingering in the background instead of just in your face misogyny or something

Kollaps/e is definitely very strong. Another favourite so far. I actually dig the vocals too. Like, objectively they might be iffy because of the squelch quality, but subjectively I think they're great.

Piercing Lazer's latest single that you checked out is like a… Breaking Benjamin vibe? Kind of what I'd compare it to. I like Breaking Benjamin and the song was good but everytime I listen to a song that reminds me of BB, I just think of listening to BB instead lol I think they do that style the best.

Pyramid Mass is very solid. I like it. Very like gritty melancholic stuff.

I really like Methane which I am surprised about because I'm not really a fan of Thrash or even Groove in general but yeah the Kreator influences really do it for me. I wish they'd lean more into that side when it comes to aggression. It's great but maybe a bit too memey and not as angry.

Surprised no one is the comments mentioned Turbid North. That's probably my favourite so far. The guitar-work is absolutely sick and it works very well with the bass to create just immaculate atmosphere.

If you dig A Vintage Death like I do, check out the band Voices and their album Breaking The Trauma Bond. It's black metal so not completely similar, but their clean singing parts are very very similar. An Audience of Mannequins in particular has just a heart wrenching clean singing bridge.

Really not into Brutal Death Metal but Invasion Zone might be one of the better ones I've heard. I guess the Joey Jordison-esque drumming sells it.

Act of Eternity is very very interesting, which is weird because while I respect it, I've not even gotten into Imperial Triumphant yet. Anxiety-giving is the best description lol. Love the vocals too where they're just like a demon telling you something while it's literally dying.

Glyph is great, even if I'm not really into the second wave black metal scene.

  • Great finds as always and I must say, for someone who says doesn't like doom metal you've demonstrated a lot of love for the genre

  • some interesting picks for this episode, i might check Act of Entropy
